I need clarification on connecting a Magura 0-5k Ohm Pot Twist Throttle to Tronic 250 VESC.

Hello,

So I've read multiple forums (though very few posts...) in regards to this throttle ' Magura Twist Grip Throttle 0-5K Ohm ' - Here's the details:

The Magura Twist Throttle has a 0-5k ohm output for Electric Scooter / Bicycle.

  • Three wire output.
  • Comes with matching grip for opposite side
  • 7/8" handle bars
  • 68" long control cable
  • Weight: 0.5 lbs
  • Blue Wire = Throttle High
  • Brown Wire = Wiper
  • Black Wire = Throttle Low
  • For 0-5K systems the Blue & Brown wires are used

I also talked to a person who's the VESC Guru at Alien Rides, where I purchased the Tronic 250 controller, and he didn't seem very confident on the information he was giving me on hooking up the throttle to the controller.

Currently I have it connected as follows:

Throttle > Controller COMM Jst Connections
Blue Wire > 3.3V Wire on VESC
Brown Wire > Signal/Green Wire on VESC
Black Wire > Ground on VESC

This setup gives me very little use of the throttle; takes about 1/4 turn before vesc responds. Here's my question:

Should the blue wire be connected to the 5V wire on the VESC? Will connecting to the 5V wire require me to install some 2k Ohm variable resistors on the Blue and Black wires or is this not necessary with VESC 5.02? Thank you in advance!
