VESC "underpowered" vs Kunteng Controller experience

Hey all,

Appreciate that VESC's are usually in the eBoard domain, but thought it interesting to take a punt on a MakerX 75/100, none the less, on my custom e-scooter (M365 pro front motor)

Though dead silent (FOC). The acceleration is way behind the kunteng's despite following multiple instructions, setting up a thumb controller and understanding the basics.

But for some reason, despite both running 48v and 35 amps, the Kunteng lights up my M365 pro front wheel, to the point you have to back off (though it sounds like a washing machine, in comparison). The VESC is an amazing unit. But seems seriously muted and even "gentle" even with an aggressive throttle curve, though incidentally, the top speed is (eventually) there! it just seems despite, what I can tell, using identical settings, the KT feels at least twice as strong (same battery used)

Has anyone run, or is running, a VESC controller with decent acceleration through theirs, on an M365 pro motor / hub motor vehicle?

When using the same motor you have only 2 parameters which decide the torque: the amount of motor current iq and the commutation angle. I think it would be most easy to check whether you have the same amount of current with both controller, so I propose you check this using the tracing functionality. If the current is the same in both controllers, then your commutation angle estimation in the Vesc is incorrect, causing reduced torque generation. Are you using hall sensors for the rotor position estimation or?
