I am trying to use a VESC to drive various KDE multirotor motors with poor results. Is there any defined tuning process? I feel like I'm turning knobs attached to other hidden knobs, at random.
I follow the autotuning for FOC and the motor runs poorly, often loosing sync at a moderate RPM with a horrible screeching noise and dwindling speed. I have adjusted "observer gain" with minor improvement. Additionally, the autotune sets a very low current limit value. When adjusted higher, other tuning parameters seem to scale with it, causing further issues. Ultimately, the motor is running poorly at very high current, if it starts at all.
