How is Motor Temperature measured?

How is the Motor Temperature measured for the "Motor Temp Cutoff Start/End" parameters? I don't have any temperature sensors connected to the motor, but I am getting motor temperature readings in the Realtime Data charts.

For the VESC to measure temperature a NTC should be mounted inside the motor and be connected between ground and temp on the hall connector.

When no temperature sensor is connected the temperature should read very low and even negative. When your real time temperature reading is indeed like this the temperature will be far from the configured "Motor Temp Cutoff Start/End" parameters" and therefore have no effect on the ESC operation.

So I have added a ntc 10k at 25c with a b value of 3950 to my motor. So now it reads 0c insted of -70c like it used to. The resistance all the way to the main board are good so I'm trying to figure out whats going on. I've tried this with 3 sensors so far same result every time. I'm using a fs75100 btw

You could check to see if the NTC thermistor is properly tracking the 10K ohm chart for the thermistor.

Measure the ohms across the Thermistor wires, and see if the resistance equals the temperature on the 10k resistance/temperature chart

Maybe theres some sort of temperature calibration in VESC-Tool
