Vesc 6.4 has 80A continuous current. Is that battery or motor?

I have a Vesc 6.4. Trampa states that it can support 80A continuously and 120A in bursts. I use it for an efoil. So what is the maximum motor and battery currents? My battery pack can support 200A in theory. My Motor has 200A peak. So the Vesc is the limitting factor, but I don't know if that 80A setting is for the battery or the motor.

For testing I used 90A max for motor and 60A max for the battery. At 100% throttle it drew 40A from the battery. Not sure why it didn't go up to 60A. It produced 26kg of thrust. 30-35 would be awesome. It only ran for 4-5 seconds. So I am close. I just need a few percent more power.

Hi,

Afaik these current ratings for ESCs refer to motor amps which correlates to its torque. As the rpm/speed increases the power consumption grows roughly linearly, so the battery amperage too. If you use full thrust for only limited time (5-10s), than I think you can set motor amp safely to 100A. Battery amp also to 100A, but this limit is rather there to be gently on the battery, but you dont have to care about that anyway.
