Step/Dir support is actually very important and opens up a whole new area of applications (CNC, 3D printer...etc) which allows easy integration to existing step/dir application frameworks...
I still don't understand why it is not the priority in VESC development, for serious applications this is WAY more important than vesc app on phone.....
the same goes for trajectory control..... which is also very important in robotics, a huge area for VESC!
Please focus on the development on these functions!
Not yet, but it's on the list.

Stepper drivers are cheap and simple and available, while the VESC is an expensive piece of kit.
I dont think normal stepper drivers will be able to provide the same level of BLDC support as VESC...
Also...Industrial servo motor driver (such as Maxon EPOS) are WAY more expensive....
If VESC supports Step/Dir, with the current capability of VESC sensorless HFI/ FOC / absolute, relaitve positioning / CAN bus.
It will be ideal as a low cost high performance substitute of servo motor driver... the best part is... it is opensource!
Not to mention it can be used in CNC / 3D printer!
So... please consider prioritize the development of Step/DIR.
It is actually kind of sad to see Odrive already implemented the Step/dir function long time ago...
In my opinion, VESC is way more superior...
Hello. Does VESC support step/dir control of BLDC motor now?
