Hello
I would be interested to hear from anyone who has successfully or otherwise used VESC hw/sw for a similar application to this:
Fixed-wing model aircraft (F3a competition) powered by a sensorless bldc motor28 pole, 210 rpm*volt-1, 3kW (this or similar) generating thrust via a 21" diameter propeller weighing only 50-60gm
FOC mode (for quietness and efficiency)
RPM closed-loop control (to aid constant-speed flight in manoeuvres having climbing and diving components)
Regenerative braking to enable use of lower capacity (= lighter) lipo batteries
Reliable start-up
Reliable idle speed circa 1200rpm
There is commercially available this one but it has a longish supply lead time which raises suspicion that repairs under warranty, if necessary, could be slow. It is also relatively costly and can only drive the same manufacturer's motors.
Hoping for your insights / advice / comments / questions
Kind regards
Bill A.
