Deceleration Curve

Hello,

I've been using a (V)ESC for 2 years now and I'm sure everyone knows what I'm about to say.

Belts, chain etc. have a certain amount of friction that has a braking effect when releasing the throttle too quickly at higher speeds. I  always get an adrenaline rush (not the good sort) everytime that happens and I m so glad when I didn't eat the floor.

That's why I think that implementing a deceleration curve would potentially contribute to more safety and prevent riders from  being thrown off their boards. I imagine users being able to adjust this curve according to their drive train setup. This could also contribute to an overall smoother ride experience.

What do you guys think?

Cheers! Chris

I recently received my first batch of controllers.  Last night I hooked one to a bike with a Sempu T9 pedal torque sensor as the throttle input.  It's still on the stand but it seems to work as I'd hoped.  I enabled braking and that also works but it's shockingly abrupt.  The only control I found is the maximum braking current.  It would be much cleaner to set acceleration limits (both positive and negative).  In my dreams, there would also be jerk limits.

Update:  I put a tire on the electric wheel and took this bike out for a spin last night.  It's a kid-sized fat tire bike but it seemed to work well.  I limited braking to 5A and it was barely noticeable.
