Hello, I am experiencing some issues with my VESC6. Has anyone else seen these?
It seems to measure the battery current lower than the actual current to the VESC. I have verified with a power supply that the values in the RC benchmark window are accurate. The screenshot below is at max throttle, but it is inaccurate throughout the range.
- How is the battery current calculated when there are no shunts on the DC input? Is it calculated from the phase currents?
- Is the "motor current max" limit supposed to be a soft or hard limit? I thought it was supposed to be a soft limit, where the motor current would limit at that value while increasing PWM with the throttle, but it seems to be cutting off power to the motor when I reach the limit.
- The positive ramping time value in the PPM general tab doesn’t seem to work. I experimented by changing it from 0.9s to 100s and the ESC would still ramp at the same almost instantaneous rate.
Thanks everyone
Here is a picture of the motor current limit issue. Strangely, it is able to limit smoothly at 30A, but at higher values like 60A below, it fluctuates wildly.
Update on the ramp time issue. It seems like the negative ramp time value actually affects the positive ramp time as well. Setting both the the same faster value increased the ramp time in both directions, but setting one fast and one slow seemed to set both of them to the faster speed.
I'm still not sure why my batt current is incorrect or why the motor current max isn't working.
hi have you worked this out yet? i have a issue with my 4.12 vesc and both motor and battery cuttents are low!!

Hi
old topic :-) but still actual :-)
I made some measurements and looks like BATTERY CURRENT is OK and 40A is real 40A drawn from battery
but one things is strange in generals :-)
in "oridinary" ESC is declared 120A regular current and 760A peek - this is declared for current from battery
for VESC declared current 200A looks like this is PHASE current and this is 80A ESC - only 80A ESC
and how we compare apples to pears :-)
