ADC control not linear or smooth

HI all,

I have a throttle and brake issue.

I have a thumb throttle and linear hall sensor for braking wired up to my VESC. But for some reason no matter what I try or how many times I go through the setup wizards looking for settings to change... I cant seem to solve it, so I turn to the experts.

The issue is that when I operate the thumb throttle or the hall sensor the VESC just seems to go to FULL speed very quickly with no smooth and linear build up which makes use of the whole travel of the thumb throttle, instead the motor throttle gets to 95% full speed at only 30% throttle position...???

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Arran.

Is the motor loaded or unloaded? What signal is the throttle controlling? An unloaded motor in current/torque control will reach full speed at relatively low throttle.

Hi. The motor is unloaded, the strange thing is... on the live duty cycle bar at the bottom of the screen, it reaches 95% (max)  throttle very easily with minimal input. Which makes me think that even if the motor was under load, it would still be set to 95%.

I'm not sure what you mean by "what signal is the throttle controlling" but it's a thumb throttle wired on ADC1 and I have "Current no reverse brake ADC2" selected as control mode. I would provide images but it won't let me add them.

Thanks

Hi,

I've just carried out a test of loading the motor. You was right, the throttle does control it smoothly with load.

I was wrong in thinking duty cycle is related to throttle percentage.

Thanks again 👍

Current mode controls torque, so if there is no load on the motor it will spin up to max speed.
