Hi,
so I recently started my graduation project which consists of "tuning" an originally 1,9 kW scooter to 20 kW peak power :D
I already got the VESC 75 300 for that project (motor will be qs205 v3 and battery a diy 16S11P 21700 Molicell P42a with 300A peak BMS) and am currently working on the precharge because I want an automatic one (so no XT90S solution).
Is there a build- in way to either precharge the VESC digitally or analog with maybe a contactor?
Iam willing to spend quite some time in researching and developing myself but currently have more practical experience (so pcb design or a custom firmware would be new to me).
Important to note, that I want either a RFID chip to power on my scooter or the original keyless go device.
Thanks and have a great day!
Christian
One way would be to put a suitable pre-charge resistor in series with the battery ↔ ESC positive connection, then use a contactor to short out the resistor once the ESC-side voltage reached a set point. As you're not space constrained you can use quite a large contactor/relay.
I'm very interested in this project and wanna see what you do next.
What bike frame is that?
Thank you for the ideas!
I was thinking about something similar, the only problem I see is the fixed precharge time (which would be okay honestly).
The original bike is a Super Soco TC, which is already electric but has just 1,9kW of power. :)
