[SOLVED] RPM setting not working

Hello everybody,

First of all I would like to thank all the people who contributed to this awesome project.

I have a problem related to VESC tool, when I try to set a given rpm, the motor does not spin properly, vibrates a lot and makes a lot of noise. However using duty cycle control everything works perfectly...This is getting me confused.

I use HW4.12, I tried 2 different VESC. Their fw is up to date.I use the latest version of VESC tool.

I tried with T-motor MN4012 480kV and scorpion SII 4025 520kV. These motor do not have sensors.

I tried with BLDC and FOC mode, the result is the same. Using motor setup wizzard, the calibration works perfectly.

Do you have any idea of what might cause this problem ?

Thanks in advance !

You might have to change the speed PID parameters, the default values are not always working for all motors. Start by decreasing all the gains. There is some literature our there on how to do PID tuning, and I'm hoping to add some automatic tuning support for that soon.

Hello Benjamin,

Thank you so much for your reply ! I apologize for replying so late, I could not test your solution before.

I tried to change the PID parameters and it worked !  We will try to improve the parameters we found and then we will post them in case others are interested.

I said "we" because I work for Skypull, we use the VESC to produce on-board energy for an Airborn Wind Energy System. The VESC works really well !

Thanks a lot again,

Olivier
