Hello,
disclaimer: i'm still new to VESC :D
i got my hands on an enertionboard focbox => https://www.enertionboards.com/electric-skateboard-parts/FOCBOX-programm...
However, the software they support is named blcd_tool.exe and i suspect it is in fact an older version that has been replaced by vesc_tool
bldc_tool does work as advertised (i'm struggling with the configuration though, my ignorance most likely). Somewhere in the app, it says i beleive that only fw 2.17 and 2.18 are supported by this bldc_tool, and that my board fw is 2.17
however, can i use vesc_tool with this board?
(my hope is to have a simpler UI and use vesc_tool manual instead of the not-so-well explained configuration guide from enertionboard => https://enertionboards.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002858294-How-do...
thanks
You should use VESC-Tool! BLDC-Tool is outdated and doesn't have the safety features that VESC-Tool has. The F-Box will swallow the new FW without any issues. It is a HW 4.12 at heart and if you upload the latest FW for Hw 4.10, 4.11, 4.12 there is no issue.
Thanks. I did select hardware "410, 411, 412" and the default firmware. it flashed all right. vesc_tool feels much clearer. I like the assistant, it removes A LOT of the confusion.
The firmware menu now says: fw 3.40 hw 410
For some reason the feature to detect parameters do not always work (i sometimes get the message "detection failed")... I had seen it on blcd_tool, but i had the feeling it wasn't that often.
Welcome to proper software and firmware. I hope you have a smooth experience using the wizards.
Frank
yes the wizards are fantastic. a genuine gem compared to odrive board (which is quite a good product as well).
i got lucky also, it seems that compared with bldc_tool, vesc_tool uses different default values (for instance with amps limits in the beginning of the motor wizard) that happen to work better with the motor i am trying to use.
i really recommend ppl to use vesc_tool over bldc_tool.
