speed value with geared hub motor

Hello,

I have a emove roadrunner se. This has a 36 volt geared hub motor, with 30 poles (according to the company) I don't know excatly what model of motor they use (I assume it's re-branded). I do know it's a geared hub motor.

In vesc tool I set it up as a direct drive and have the wheel size correct but it shows the speed as much faster than I'm riding (Max 20mph, showing 50+). do I need to use a gear ratio since it's a geared hub motor? Or is there some other setting I'm missing?

Yes you need to implement the gear ratio in Vesctool.

Is there any way I can figure out the gear ratio?

Well I just asked the company and they said the gear ratio is 1:1. If this is true then it should be the same as a direct drive and the speed should be correct. I need to test some different ratios to see if i can get it accurate.
