FloatWheel not balancing, shooting forward

Hey all! New here and need some help. I hope I'm in the right place.

TL;DR my floatwheel turns on, seems fine when using VESC tool (motors turn, gyro and pitch, roll, yaw settings good) but when I try to step on it doesnt balance, just shoots forward or backward. Im not sure what settings need to be fixed.

I bought a working float board but it was slow and stiff. I wanted to tweak it so I downloaded VESC tool and realized I needed to upgrade the firmware. That went fine. I ran the FOC and IMU wizards and tweaked some stuff surfdado suggested (using float package instead of balance app but could change back if needed; app to use us set to uart). Still seems to work while connected to computer. No errors. No weird motor noises. IMU data in RTapp seems fine. When I disconnect and test it on the ground, the board doesnt begin to balance. It just shoots forward or backward. Its almost like the motor wants to go forward or backward but not balance. I can't imagine it's a mechanical issue but I just can't figure out what settings need to be fixed. I've followed the tutorials on YT exactly.

I can post pictures or give someone specs but Im so new i dont even know what would be relevant. Thanks so much for the help. This has been the bane of my life for the week.

I have the same problem I looked at the motor and hall sensors all seem to work just fine . It passed the motor setup said hall sensors. same programming on another pint motor but it wont balance and jerks one way or the other. the imu seems to work it will change directions accourding to the tilt direction but it stops super quick and jerks the other direction . Not a smooth transition from one direction to the other.
