Powering VESC and motor from powersupply

Dear all.

I am using the VESC for an ROV project where I do not use batteries, as a propeller underwater can not provide any regenerative braking.

I am using the VESC to control the T500 thruster (BlueRobotics). It is powered by a Mean Well DPU3200 at 24 volt. (It is able to deliver 3200W). The thruster can only take 1043W and the limitations are put in the motor current. I am wording why there are no settings for using a power supply as input or at least turning off all functions to limit performance based on the battery. I hope that this will be implemented in future editions.

Could anyone please help with the settings to change to ensure at no limit is put on the motor from battery settings?

Best Sigurd.

Motor Current MAX = Battery Current MAX or set Battery Current Max even higher.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the reply, i have done that, and I have also set the battery cutoff-voltage low. Any other thing I would benefit from? I can obtain 98% duty cycle but would like to get to 100%. I seem to be missing approx 1 amp compared to the standard ESC for the thruster.

95% Duty Cycle is the maximum for FOC operation. Please do not try to go higher.
