Hub Motor Setup Issues

Hi All,

We are using Flipsky Dual Mini FSESC6.7 Pro ESCs with L-Faster 500W hub motors. Currently waiting on some info from the manufacturer of the motors, but thought id try herein the interim to see if there are any tips.

So with the VESC tool, we go through the motor setup wizard, and can get to a state where the wheels are working. Or so we thought, this was on axle stands, so free rolling. Once on the ground, there is basically no torque.

New to the VESC tool, so a few questions/notes, and hopefully someone can decode this to some pointers:

  • I ran the wizard again for motor setup, and felt the wheel, i couldn't hold it in position, it had huge amount sof power, so it seems during detection, it is ok? But then as soon as applied and uploaded and then giving PWM commands, i grab the wheel again and can hold it in place....
  • Does the VESC wizard calculate and assign the poles and motor details itself - or should we still be entering these ourselves? Similarly, are the choices prior to run detection important, or is it figuring this out itself?
  • At the moment, we are doing the motor wizard, selecting the FOS setup, changing control to PPM, and then also Duty Cycle control. No other settings are changed.
  • The wheels are 36V 500W Brushless geared DC hub motors - but not sure on any other specifics

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks.

1.Sounds like your settings are not perfect.

2.No, you have to type them. The value is only needed for showing correct speed, distance etc.

3.Use Current control
