Flipsky 75100 with Flipsky VX1 remote -- do I have the wiring right? (VESC4 connector)

Hi all. Did a search and didn't find anything about this specific issue.

First time setting up an ESC so sadly I don't have a lot of experience under my belt.

For an electric snowboard project, I'm using a Flipsky 75100 with a VX1 remote. It didn't explicitly state anywhere what type of connector it needed, so I guessed VESC4 and it seems like it's the right type? Connects to the COMM wire.

White wire was loose, in most diagrams I've seen it gets soldered directly on to the positive battery wire (which might be problematic as the ESC enclosure is sealed; though the COMM connector head does have a white wire lead--so I used a metal pin lead to put the white wire into the connector head).

Motor's still a month or so away from delivery, is there a way to test remote input digitally in the VESC tool? Just to ensure that it's reading the remote input?
