Motors with known valid configurations

Hi Everyone,

I bought a Flipsky Mini FESC4.20 and have been playing around trying to get it to work with a T-Motor F60 PRO 2550KV that I have, and am having some troubles.  RH detection finds wrong resistance (says 21 mOhm, motor should have 60 mOhm), and any setting other than duty cycle seems to twich/ossilate hard.

Instead of working to get this motor tuned well, I was wondering if there's a list of motors and known valid/optimal configurations out there.  I'd love to just buy the cheapest motor I can find with a known config and play with that to start with, then com back to the drone motor.

For example, looking at the Motor wizard I have the option of selecting from a variety of motors, the first being 'Mini Outrunner ~75g'.  Is that a specific model motor I can buy somewhere that already has a built in profile?

The website says 43mOhm, so 21 sounds about right. I think your problem is not related to detection. Can you run detection then upload the motor configuration XML file so we can have a look. Also a video showing what happens would help a lot.

Hmm, two mistakes from my end.  I was looking at resistance for a different kV value (60 mOhm vs 43 mOhm), and I expected the exact amount, not half.  I expected the exact amount because i was getting it from the website, not measuring it.  I figured they took into account measuring between all 3 phases instead of a single phase measurement on the published value.

The main issues I ran into where either a) motor running noisily/oscillating at lower speed (no load), then after touching/supplying a bit of (mechanical) resistance spins up to higher speed (still no load).  Also seen it start/stop/start/stop type of pattern.  I believe both of these are probably related to an inadequate power supply. I'm getting some under-voltage errors when I try to run a duty cycle higher than 0.5.  I've ordered a 1500mAh / 100C 4S battery to power it with, so I'll try again with a more reliable power source and provide some more useful information with videos and graphs.

Looks like I broke the motor (unrelated) and am waiting for a new one, but i did test with an alternate power source and it helped quite a bit.

Before killing the motor duty cycle seemed to work fairly well, although it seemed like it'd jump between speeds, or often start out slower then jump up.  Speed control mode oscillated pretty hard.

Am I correct in understanding that after setting up the motor with the wizard, duty cycle should work, and from there we must tune speed and position PID's?
