Hey there,
like the tiltle states, i have successfully destroyed a Flispky FSESC 75350.
Problem is, i am not quite sure about what exactly happend and how to avoid it when the next controller arives.
So i was installing the FSESC on a stock sur ron with stock battery(90A BMS) and engine.
Because i was dumb and thirsty for power the battery current was set way too high(150A).
During riding, it stuttered on heavy accelleration.
One time the (supposedly) battery shut off completely, board lights etc. shut themselfes off.
To my understanding, this is somewhat expected since i was overpowering the BMS by quite a bit.
However, i am not quite sure how this killed the VESC.
Did regeneration caused this? Regeneration was set to be used when throttle input < 30%
Do you think the following adjustments will be enough to not straight up kill the next FSESC?
Any idea?
What i am planning to change when the next controller arrives:
- setting up a killswitch connected to adc2, which is only open when there is input voltage
- obviously using a battery current smaller than the BMS (e.g. 85A)
- disabling regen until the settings have proven themselfes right.
- increase battery cutoff voltage to avoid the bms shutting off on low charge state
What makes me think the controller is dead:
- motor starts itching about 3 seconds after powering up, then the battery shuts off again
- if powered by a battery without bms, the controller produces quite a loud noice (similar to coil whine?) and the wires leading to the VESC get quite hot
unfortunately the VESC is sealed with some silicon like stuff so i can't get a look at the pcb

If there is no battery, there is no way to dissipate the magnetic energy of the motor.
There could be huge voltage spikes.
